Itinerary overview
Mou Waho Cruise & Nature Walk is a 3-hour event (suitable for participants with moderate physical fitness and flexibility, you can choose to guide or tour on your own). You will take a luxury boat to cruise on the clear and transparent Lake Wanaka to the remote Mou Waho Island Nature Reserve. This island is famous as "the lake in the lake" - it is located on an island in a lake, and the lake itself is located in the ocean of an island. The unique topography is breathtaking. Mou Waho Island is a predator-free protected area managed by New Zealand's Ministry of Environmental Protection and is home to many rare native birds on the mainland of New Zealand. You can witness the results of conservation efforts, such as rare non-flying birds - Buff Weka, which has been extinct on the mainland since 1920, and rare species such as spotted pigeons and native falcons. The activity includes a two-hour guided tour or self-exploring bush hiking tour, which will take you to the top of the island, see the natural lakes formed by glaciers, and enjoy the magnificent mountains and lakes around you. On the way back, you will cruise back to Wanaka on a fast 28-seat super water taxi, ending this unforgettable nature adventure.
