FAQ about the project
The price for 6 seats is different from that for 4 seats, and each car can accommodate up to 6 or 4 people.
Q: Can I see all the sets of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit?
A: Sorry, no. We had to obtain permission to shoot movies in such a magnificent primeval forest, and the producers were required to dismantle all the sets except Hobbiton. We only show you the filming scenes. You can see many filming locations in our tour, and the guide will take you to learn more about the stories behind them.
Q: How long is the tour?
A: 4 hours and 15 minutes
Q: Where will we pick you up?
A: Any hotel and information center in the city.
Q: Can I do 2 tours in one day?
A: Yes. We will send you back for lunch after the morning tour and pick you up at 1:30 for the afternoon tour.
Q: Is there any walking required?
A: This tour in Glenorchy includes a simple 15-minute (round trip) walk through a small path to the filming location of The Lord of the Rings. Guests can choose to stay in the car or walk around the car.
Q: What kind of car do you drive?
A: 6 seater 4WD Land Rover or Land Cruiser.
Q: Which tour includes the most Lord of the Rings scenes?
A: If you want to see as many scenes from Lord of the Rings as possible, we recommend Safari of the scenes – Glenorchy or Paradise Safari. Both of them start from a scenic drive to Glenorchy and end at Paradise Valley, which is also the filming location of Lord of the Rings and many other movies. Safari of the Scenes – Wakatipu Basin combines the filming scenes of Lord of the Rings, beautiful scenery and gold rush history.
